Baby Talk

Just wanted to say thanks to all of you for your super sweet words. Oh my gosh! I really don't deserve such nice compliments, I think, "Who me?!" Seriously, Thank you! It means a lot.

I don't know what it is lately, but every time I sit down to work with my Adornit products I get in a doodley-mood! LOL!

I did this layout last night using some of the new papers from the Whoopsy Daisy collection by Adornit. CUTE STUFF! (This is a HUGE collection and every single sheet is to die for!) I also used Adornit's green daisy ribbon, Baby Girl Dimensional stickers, and a few of the Girly Girl cardstock stickers. And check out their new letter stickers (black letters). It's a great versatile font and a perfect size for a lot of applications.
Thanks for stopping by! I'll be back with more tomorrow! :)

Learning to Use Inspiration As It Strikes

I walked through the room where my kids were watching T.V. and on the screen was an image that struck me as soon as I saw it. I don't know what they were watching, but it appeared to be a blurb about a children's artist and they were showing some of his/her work. The image that caught my eye was a painting the artist had done of a tree. The tree had red branches and in the branches were dozens of birds in bright, primary colors.

I thought to myself, "That would be really cute on a scrapbook page!" Normally, I would just think my thought and go on with my daily stuff and probably forget all about it. This time, I went straight to my scrap room, pulled out my Noel Mignon Gingersnap and Passionate kits and went to work.

Instead of birds, I used buttons to suggest a tree full of bright fall colors to go with these fall pictures of my children. I can't say it turned out as cute as the artist's painting but I had a lot of fun creating it!

So now I'm going to challenge you . . . Next time you see a fun idea, don't file it away in your brain. Go scrap it right away!

Need Your Tips and Ideas for My New Scrap Space!

Over on the message board at BackPorch Memories I've been fishing for tips and ideas for the scrap space at my new house. My hubby is letting me put custom cabinetry in and it's freaking me out! I'm soooo excited, but I'm also nervous! It's such a permanent thing that I don't want to mess it up. I need your help in thinking of features and details that would be fun to include.

Here's the catch! We meet with the cabinetry guy on Monday morning to go over the plans for each room. Aaaaaagh! I know he'll have me something to "proof" later on, but I don't want to be the lady that has to have it completely redesigned because I forgot to tell him this . . . oh, and could you add that? Heh, heh, heh.

Soooooo, besides lots of shelves and drawers for paper/embellies, what little details would you incorporate if you could?

****************************************************

I bought a room planning program from BH&G to help me visualize certain rooms in our new home. Would you like to take a tour of my new Scrap Room? :)

Okay, here we go! Show-and-Tell of Jana's planned scrap space. LOL!

This is the overall floor plan of the space. Funky isn't it? :) The main area is 11' wide by 12' deep. The Bonus area to the right is 9' X 7.5' and steps up six inches from the Main area. The area to the left will be my Messy area for stamps and paint. It is 7' square. It was originally a walk-in closet for this odd-shaped bedroom, but I had them take the wall out to make it more open.

OfficePlan

This is a view of the Main section from just inside the doorway. I couldn't figure out how to make the ceiling look pitched (it goes up about 12' into a pitched vault. I will have lots of can lights and a cute chandelier hanging from the center), so they are just flat in this photo. The cabinets are a generic graphic from the program just to give me a general idea of what the room will look like. The french doors are on the west side and go out on a little balcony (my room is on the 2nd floor) that is just for looks, maybe two feet deep. It will atleast be nice to see the kids riding their bikes from my room while I work. I decided to face my desk the way it is so I wasn't looking directly into the sun as it was going down . My computer will go on the East Wall. The flat gray box is there to represent my cutter. I think I will have the hole in the counter on the side towards the wall.

OfficeMain

Here is the view of the main area from the bonus room doorway. The frame on the wall represents my large framed magnet board. I have one now and LOVE it! It's so great to hang things up on and stare at for awhile when I'm trying to decide if my layout is finished or not.

(ETA: I forgot to mention that wherever there are chairs (and underneath the computer area) it will be open for legroom, . . . I just couldn't figure out how to make it that way on the program.)

OfficeDoor

This is the view of the Messy Area from the Main desk area. I decided to keep all the cabinetry at counter height. I am going to put a stool in this area to work at. I think it will also be a popular place for my kids to congregate and do their homework while I am working on my projects. :) The window is a little off-center in this space (it's centered on the wall outside). But I think the space to the left of the window will be perfect for setting up my Clip-It-Up. :) The sink will come in handy for paint and stamps.

OfficeStamp

Okay, last one (if I haven't bored you, already ). This is the view of the Bonus room. It steps up from the Main area because it is located over the front porch. I have no idea of how I'm going to do cabinets in this part. I just plopped in a few graphics to see what I thought. I definitely will do a counter under the window. I think it will be a great place to put my cuttlebug and general paper storage. Maybe put a bunch of drawers in, so I can keep my embellies organized by color in each one. ???

OfficeBonus

So there is my little tour. Any more suggestions now that you've seen it? :)

Tagged and a Bookmark

I've been tagged by my good friend Sunny Kohler! I told her I was just going to copy and paste her answers because we have the same middle name. LOL! Okay, okay. That' s not playing fair. I'll try and think of something new to say. :)

You must post the rules before you give your answers.

You must list one fact about yourself for each letter of your middle name. Each fact must begin with that letter. If you don't have a middle name, just use your maiden name. After you've been tagged, you need to up-date your blog with your middle name and answers. At the end of your post, you need to tag one person for each letter of your middle name.(Be sure to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged and need to read your blog for details).

************************************

My middle name happens to be Lynn. It's my dad's middle name, so that's how I got it! :)

L - Love all the friends I've made through the internet scrapbook circles, I hope to meet you all in person someday! :)
Y - Yodelling Champion (J/K!) Yearns to get a degree as an Interior Designer someday.
N - Need time to myself each day to create and tinker in my office
N - Nighttime is my favorite time of day. I love when the house gets quieter and cozier and we can just settle down and be together as a family.

P.S. I'm ending the tag with me. :( Unless you want to play along! Post in the comment box and I'll come and read about you! :)

************************************

In the fall I made this cute little bookmark for my daughter. I never posted it here on my blog, so that is my little scrappy photo for you today!

Bookmark

It was a really fun way to use up my scraps and my daughter seems to cherish it because I made it for her . . . and that makes my heart smile! :) The slant part is a little secret pocket that she can store a piece of gum or a secret note in.

Until next time!

Crop Addict March Kit Projects

We had two realtors bring clients through our house today. The first one brought a client back for the third time. They gave us an offer while we were in Anguilla, but it was soooo far below our asking price it was almost an insult. I think it's a positive sign that they are back again . . . so we'll see if they give us another offer. ???

I know I've said that we could sell our house the day before we move to our new one, but I'm kind of to the point now that I just want it DONE. Sold. I don't want to have to think about that part anymore. Don't want to have to clean my house every two seconds. KWIM? We're entering the busy time of year for buying/selling a house, so keep your fingers crossed for us! :)

Okay, enough random rambling from Jana! :)

**************************************

The March Kit Gallery is up at Crop Addict, and that means I get to share with you the projects I did! Here they are!

I don't know why, but I really struggle with the Whiteout paper from We R Memory Keepers. It's not that it's hard paper to work with, I think it just intimidates me because it is so beautiful! I wasn't too thrilled with the way this layout turned out, so I tried my luck with the cards instead. LOL!

I loved all the ribbon in this month's kit and didn't want to file it away, just to forget about it. I decided to use the last of my scraps combined with the ribbon to make a few simple Thank You cards. I like the funky color combinations it yielded. :)
Thanks so much for stopping by! And thanks so much for all of your kind words in the comments section. I really LOVE when you take a minute to post a little thought. It's like getting happy mail everyday! xoxoxox Thanks! ;)

Morgan You Inspired Me! Introducing the Jana Font!

Okay, Morgan is such a sweet online friend of mine and she is always complimenting my handwriting. Every time she does, it reminds me that I have always wanted to have my handwriting made into a font to make it easier for journaling on my pages. You see I have a REALLY hard time writing smaller than what you see, and there are times I want to include a LOT of information, but want to still use my handwriting for sentimental reasons. (I used to LOVE when my mom wrote on things!)

Sooooooo . . . I searched the web and found a site that makes your handwriting into a font for $9!!! Isn't that awesome! www.fontifier.com

It was so EASY! It literally took me 30 minutes or less. And that includes the 7 times I wrote the alphabet on the template to make sure I had it "perfect". If you decide to do it, I would suggest you read the "Help" section before scanning in the template. It lets you preview your font before you buy it, but I was clueless that I had flaws and bought it the first time. Then I had to redo it after reading the help section. *blush, blush* (That's so me! Oh, well.) Another thing, it isn't a super clear and crisp font. It starts looking raggedy when you go higher than a 24 pt. size. But, hey, I don't think I'll ever WANT to use it for anything that large.

*********************************

I don't have a scrappy picture for you this time around, BUT if you would like my True Type handwriting font called JanaHand I will email it to you! For FREE! Just drop me a note at jana.eubank@gmail.com and I'll send it right back to you. No, this is not an ego thing. I was just pretty excited about it, so I thought I'd share it with my cyber friends who might like it! :) (Morgan and Jenn you'll be my first emails! ;) )

Happy Belated Valentine's Day!

After posting about our family tradition I thought I better make it a priority and snap a few pictures. Here are the bags of "sets" of Valentine's that came to our door last night. I signed them from our dog, grandparents, "A Secret Friend", etc. As always the kids had a blast answering the door over and over. It always makes me smile when they say, "This is the BEST Valentine's Day EVER!" So worth it! :)
Well, our Current order came at 4:00 on the 13th. WOOHOO! I had a "back-up plan", but I was glad we got to use the cards that the kids had picked out from the catalog. Here's Owen working real hard at writing his name, tongue-concentration and all! LOL!
I remembered at the last second that I had bought these Bo-Bunny punch out heart pouches at their last warehouse sale. So I got up early, put them together with some Dollar Store Thickers, and hung them on the chairs for the kids to find. Gotta LOVE when your scrapping supplies come to the rescue for holidays! :)

The girls looked so cute walking around the neighborhood delivering their valentines to their friends. Maryn is terrified of the curling iron, but she wanted to look like big sister today and have her hair crimped with the wave-iron. Kind of reminds me of my 80's perm. LOL!
My cute friend Charity brought our family a Valentine Dinner from Papa Murphy's. :) Heart-shaped pizza, cheese sticks, cookie dough with Valentine M&M's and red Fruit Punch. Our family LOVED it! I was especially grateful, because I wasn't sure what we were going to do for dinner that night! Charity, YOU'RE THE BEST!!!!

Later in the afternoon my cute sister and her family stopped by to say "hi". It was a such a fun surprise! They live 2 hours away and decided to come see everyone. We had a fun visit. Shortly after Gramma and Grampa Holbrook and my brother also came by, so it kind of turned into a family party. :) It was a lot of fun!
I hope all of you had the chance to spend time with your loved ones! Happy Heart Day!
************************************************
Well, I can't do a post without SOMETHING scrappy! LOL! So, I'll leave you with a project I did a few years back for my kitchen. We were talking about things we had done for our homes using our scrappy supplies on the BackPorch Memories board. I took these pictures to post there and then never got around to it.
I found this wooden photo box at a local gift shop. Instead of putting it on my coffee table to hold photos I decided to make it into a recipe box and use each hanging folder as a "section" for recipes. I used Wild Asparagus paper that matched the colors in my kitchen. I used my Wishblade to cut the letters. It's a little beat-up looking now. It sits right next to the sink and the water has worn off the paint in some places. Nevertheless, I thought it might provide a little inspiration for someone out there! :)
Have a great night!
Jana

Valentine Tradition

Thanks for sharing your traditions, Danielle! I LOVE the idea of a Valentine basket, and one of these years (when we're not sick) I want to invite all the neighborhood kids over for a good ol' fashioned Valentine-Making Party complete with lace doilies, lots of ribbon, pink & red paper, shiny red heart stickers, sugar cookies, and sprinkles!

Alright, I promised to tell you our Valentine tradition today. Unfortunately, I have no pictures to go along with it, so here is a little something to look at that's Valentine-y. This is a card I made with Adornit products a few months back. Everything is by Adornit except for the white cardstock base. I love the way the scallop stamps nest together to create a layered look. I also really LOVE their huge-y paperclips and thought it would be really fun to hang some dangly tags on it for a card.
Okay, so our Valentine tradition actually was invented by my dad. When Jensyn was a toddler he wanted her to have the Valentine experience, but she wasn't in school yet. Soooo, he made her something like 20 valentines and one-by-one rang our doorbell and ran away. He signed them from him, from Grandma, from uncles and aunts, cousins and friends. He even signed some of them from her favorite TV and Movie characters.

Soooo, that's what we do every Valentine's day. I have a stash of as many different kinds of Valentines as I can find. My friends even give me their leftovers to add to the variety. After school on Valentine's Day one-by-one my husband or I will sneak out of the house, run around front, leave Valentine's on the doorstep, ring the doorbell and run. My kids STILL don't know it's us. LOL! They think they are just super popular on Valentine's Day. :) I LOVE IT! And yep, my dad still comes and does his fair share of doorbell ringing. It's a really fun night! :)

Now a few layouts for ya! I've been scanning the challenge blogs lately and these two layouts were ones I did for two separate sites.

This one I did for www.colorstorychallenge.com A BRAND NEW challenge site that gives you a sketch, a color palette, and a picture of a decorated interior as inspiration. Interior design is my second passion, so this challenge is right up my ally. :) Come and play! I'll be hanging out there often, I'm sure.

This one is for the site http://gettinsketchy.blogspot.com I'm working on a few pages for my nieces album, so that is the journaling is blank. TFL! Jana :)

February BackPorch Memory Projects

I was sent the Medley kit to work with this month, but I couldn't help but order the Solo Kit with the Rusty Pickle Lucky Line, too! Really fun kits!

Maryn can cross her eyes unlike anyone else! It scares me actually. I keep thinking her little eyes are going to roll back inside her head and never go back to normal. On top of that, she makes this total goofy "Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum" mouth when she does it and looks like such a silly goose! Well, atleast one day I'll have a crazy picture of her to show her boyfriends, right? LOL! Owen's soccer team this year came up with the clever name of the Cement Kickers. Ya know, their uniforms are gray, like cement! LOL! They crack me up!

A quick card using a sketch by Janelle Richmond. I absolutely LOVE that girl's work and I've been digging her challenge blogs lately. Google her to find them. She ROCKS! And the DT work on each of them is INCREDIBLE! (Go Molly! Go Kim! Go Allison! Go Jenn!)
My dad was trying out his new telephoto lens by taking our pictures from across a bridge. I love this picture he caught, because we're all just our natural silly, selves, . . . pretty much 'cause we were making fun of him. :)My cute kids! :) Yeah, I'm pretty lucky to have them . . . remind me on the days I don't feel like it, though, . . . Okay? :)
I think this was the first year we began our St. Patrick's Day tradition of "Pat the Leprechaun". My daughter was in preschool at the time and came home telling me how they were making Leprechaun Traps because Pat the Leprechaun was going to visit their classroom and leave them treats. She asked me if he was going to visit our house, too. It sounded fun! So ever since then, Pat the Leprechaun leaves a trail of limirick-type clues to a green treasure every St. Paddy's morning. (Thanks Ms. Mikel for the idea! ;) )

So are you ready for Valentine's Day? I'M SOOOOO NOT! My family has been sick this past week. It's been pure survival . . . the kind of days where you have cereal for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And that's if you feel up to eating. Fortunately, I haven't got the "bug" yet. (Knock on wood!) Everyone is getting better and I hope they feel good enough to celebrate in a few days.

I'm waiting for my Current order to get here with the kids valentines in them. As a scrapbooker, you might be expecting me to handmake them all, right? WRONG. It's a strict tradition that they get ordered from the Current Catalog. LOL! I've been doing it that way since I was a little kid. It just wouldn't feel right if we did it different. KWIM? Although, if they don't get here, we might be making use of Grandpa's Copy Shop to whip them out in time. :)

Do you have any Valentine's Day traditions? I'd LOVE to hear them. Check back tomorrow to hear about ours.
