Colorstory 7

Colorstory Challenge 7 is up! YAY! I love the way this challenge gets me to do things a little more outside my comfort zone every month! I have to laugh, though . . . I think the concept of this challenge was supposed to be a little more on the "Elsie Flannigan", "hip" side. Well, . . . you see how well I do on stuff like that . . . I just don't think I have it in me! It just ended up looking like everything else I do. LOL! Oh, well! I gave it a shot and I like the result so that's all that matters, right?!



Hope you had a great weekend! I'm off to watch my Tivo'd final episode of Design Star! I can't wait to see who won! :D

Our Little Munchkin

Our little Munchkin is 2 today! She's my baby, and now that she is 2, I "officially" don't have a baby anymore. :( I knew this time would come, and I'm thankful for it in some ways No more spit-up, no more baby food, I can now give away the high chair and gazillions of baby rattles. When we move, the crib will be given away and she'll be going into a big-girl bed. But it's also a time in my life that I know I will miss. (And it means I'm REALLY getting older, . . . you know, that whole moving onto the next phase of my life thing. LOL!)

She's running around exploring and enjoying the world. She's saying more every single day, she's full of personality and attitude . . . and she's just a joy to our family. I adore this little spunky spirit and I'm so thankful she is in our family. Happy Birthday, Sweet Camryn! :D :D :D



This layout is for this month's Colorstory Challenge. I love this month's crisp, fresh colorboard with the cool colors and splashes of mango. I probably would've never thought to combine these colors on their own, but I love the feel of them.

Bunnies and Circles

I'm so stinkin' EXCITED!!!!! This morning I found the best email in my box! I ran around my house clapping my hands and cheering and my husband looked at me like I was going crazy.

You see, I found out that I was 1 of 3 people chosen to be a Guest Design Team Member at the PENCIL LINES. WOOHOOOOOOO!!!! You have no IDEA how HONORED I am! Pencil Lines has one of the BEST Design Teams around. Each week I Ooooh and Aaaaah over what those gals create, and I can't believe that they'll be using MY SKETCH in April! HECK YA! Can't wait to see all the amazing things they do with it. :) :) :) Thanks for letting me share!

Our local TV station had this recipe on one of their shows yesterday. It's so flippin' cute! I NEED to make this for my family for Easter. It's Bunny Bread! They used it to hold veggie dip, but I think it would be cute by itself too! Just thought I would pass it along!
Veggie Rabbit
Ingredients:
2 Loaves Rhodes™ Bread Dough, thawed but still cold
2 sliced almonds
2 large raisins
1 egg, beaten

Method:
Cut one loaf of bread into 1/4 and 3/4 portions. Shape 3/4 portion into egg shape for body and place on a large sprayed baking sheet. Shape 1/4 portion into pear shape and place above body for head. Clip side whiskers with scissors. Cut second loaf in half. Cut one half in half again for ears and roll into two 16-inch ropes. Fold together and place on top of head.
With remaining half of loaf, divide dough in half. Take one half and cut into two pieces. Shape into 2 large thumper feet and place under bunny. Clip toes. Divide last piece of dough into 1/3 and 2/3 portions. Divide 2/3 portion into two hands and place on side of body and clip fingers. Divide remaining 1/3 dough into two large balls and one small ball. Place two large balls on face for cheeks and one small ball for nose.
Place 2 raisins on face for eyes and 2 almonds for teeth. Brush everything with beaten egg, even the teeth. Cover with sprayed plastic wrap. Let rise 15-30 minutes. Remove wrap and bake at 350°F 30 minutes or until browned. Let cool. Hollow out tummy and fill with your favorite dip.

The layout I submitted for Colorstory 1 was chosen by the designers as one of two participants to have their work featured in an upcoming Colorstory Challenge. So here is the layout I made for Colorstory 2. Kim puts together an inspiration item, sketch and color scheme. This month it is greens with orange, accented with poppy red and blue. Check it out! It's really fun! The deadline for Colorstory 2 is March 15th.

Valentine Tradition

Thanks for sharing your traditions, Danielle! I LOVE the idea of a Valentine basket, and one of these years (when we're not sick) I want to invite all the neighborhood kids over for a good ol' fashioned Valentine-Making Party complete with lace doilies, lots of ribbon, pink & red paper, shiny red heart stickers, sugar cookies, and sprinkles!

Alright, I promised to tell you our Valentine tradition today. Unfortunately, I have no pictures to go along with it, so here is a little something to look at that's Valentine-y. This is a card I made with Adornit products a few months back. Everything is by Adornit except for the white cardstock base. I love the way the scallop stamps nest together to create a layered look. I also really LOVE their huge-y paperclips and thought it would be really fun to hang some dangly tags on it for a card.
Okay, so our Valentine tradition actually was invented by my dad. When Jensyn was a toddler he wanted her to have the Valentine experience, but she wasn't in school yet. Soooo, he made her something like 20 valentines and one-by-one rang our doorbell and ran away. He signed them from him, from Grandma, from uncles and aunts, cousins and friends. He even signed some of them from her favorite TV and Movie characters.

Soooo, that's what we do every Valentine's day. I have a stash of as many different kinds of Valentines as I can find. My friends even give me their leftovers to add to the variety. After school on Valentine's Day one-by-one my husband or I will sneak out of the house, run around front, leave Valentine's on the doorstep, ring the doorbell and run. My kids STILL don't know it's us. LOL! They think they are just super popular on Valentine's Day. :) I LOVE IT! And yep, my dad still comes and does his fair share of doorbell ringing. It's a really fun night! :)

Interior design is my second passion, so this challenge is right up my ally. :) Come and play! I'll be hanging out there often, I'm sure.
