I-Phone Snapshot

I recently heard about the book called The Best Camera is the One That Is With You by Chase Jarvis. I haven't read the book, but just the title changed my attitude about using my camera phone to snap pictures.

In my mind, I would think to myself, "Oh, I don't want to snap a picture using my camera phone. It will be muddy and blurry and it won't be worth scrapping." I realize now I was wrong. It doesn't matter if the pictures you take with your camera phone are of poor quality, they still contain special memories. :)

Here is a page I created for the Noel Mignon Summer Layout Tag (it's like playing the game "Telephone" but with scrapping) using the Noel Mignon Playdate kit (sorry, sold out). It's just a quick snapshot of my kids outside of a restaurant, but it holds a special spot in my heart because it is very rare that I get all four of my kids in a picture. Besides that . . . this was one of those nights that I had an epiphany of how quickly my kids are changing this year (Jensyn is going to junior high now) and that I need to cherish every single mundane minute of our time together. :)

Pink Paislee Old School

I'm pretty darn excited about THIS today. :D Thanks, Scrapbook Trends! What an honor! :D :D :D

I have a new Pink Paislee page to share with you using the brand new Old School collection. (LOOOOVE these papers!)

At the beginning of August, my kids participated in a talent show for a church primary activity. They asked Owen to be the emcee. :) He didn't seem nervous at all and happily agreed. I asked him if he wanted me or his dad to give him a few pointers and he said, "No, I'll be fine."

And he was! He did such a great job! He made cute little comments between each act and even told a few jokes! LOL! My favorite line Owen said was after a group of girls did a dance. He said, "Now THAT was some fancy footwork!" Hehehehe! :)

I wanted to create a page recording this fun event and Owen's natural charm.

I decided to play off the word "charm" and give my banner a "charm bracelet" treatment. I added a variety of punched shapes to each pennant for a fun and casual feeling.

Pink Paislee put up a sneak peek image of their new Christmas Collection. Check it out! Isn't it BEAUTIFUL?!!!

And finally, I wanted to mention that Noel Mignon's new Kit, the SWEET SUE KIT, is now shipping! There are only 14 left in the shop . . . so grab yours if you haven't already. :D :D :D

Have a great week!

A Few Shares

This week has been a whirlwind for me . . . so much going on my mind can hardly keep up with it all. :) Do you ever have weeks like that?

I have a few shares for you today.

This first one is a page I did for the My Mind's Eye blog focusing on the simple, and oh-so-versatile circle. :)

I love to use circles on my pages! Whenever I feel like a project is missing "something", the first thing I do is look to see if I can add a circle element to my page. Circles soften hard edges and corners. They add whimsy and movement. They can "hug" your photos and draw your eye around your page. They are also great for anchoring an element.

I layered circles to create a background for my photos to rest on. I also added my title along the curve of one of the circles.

You can even use circles to create flowers for your pages.

The rosettes on this page were created by punching a 3" circle. Use scissors to cut a spiral on the inside of your circle.

Roll the spiral upon itself beginning with the small outer "tail" piece.

Put a glue dot in the center of the circle.

When you have finished rolling up the spiral secure the flower by pressing the layers into the glue dot.

Easy-Peasy!

Pink Paislee Hocus Pocus Page

WooooOOOOooooOOOOOooo! It's Friday the 13th and my turn to post the Take 5 Friday on the Pink Paislee blog . In honor of this SPOOKY day I just HAD to use the brand new Hocus Pocus collection ! The great thing about all Pink Paislee collections is how versatile they are! This time I used the Hocus Pocus collection for an everyday boy page of my nephew.

I used the Hocus Pocus patterned papers , Hocus Pocus Elements Stickers (included in the collection kit), Hocus Pocus clear cards, Cocoa Expressions Cushies Alphabet Stickers , and Artisan Elements - Circles .

I added a bit of silver metallic rubon cream to the Artisan Elements to tie them in with the gray tones of the Hocus Pocus papers.

The label shape achoring my title was cut from the Hocus Pocus cards. The image is printed in blue foil, but I decided to use the back side of the card where it appears pewter. :)

Can you believe it's the weekend! Ack! These last few weeks of summer are flying by. My kids will start school a week from Monday. I really am going to miss hanging out with them, but it will also feel great to get back on a schedule again.

Make your weekend count! ;)
Take care!

My Mind's Eye August Challenge

Blog Challenge #14 is up at the My Mind's Eye blog. The challenge is to design a SUMMERTIME layout or other project based on this sketch by Anam Stubbington.

The deadline is August 19th, so if you'd like to play along check out the details on the My Mind's Eye blog HERE.

I turned the sketch on it's side to accommodate my vertical photos. :)

Nothing says summertime like a bright popsicle with the sticky juice running down your arm. :) This page features items from the So Sophie Clever, Alphabet Soup Girl and Lush Blue collections. I added a digital stamp frame (Photoshop Elements 5) to each photo before cutting them out and adding them to my page. The backs of the Alphabet Soup Girl Playing Cards make fun photo mattes. I mixed the two different Lush Chipboard Alphabet sticker fonts for interest. To make them cohesive I used Glossy Accents to coat each letter with Aqua Microbeads.

The September kit is up for Presale at Noel Mignon! Check out the SWEET SUE Kit HERE (shipping August 20th). Eeeek! Can't wait to play with this one! :D :D :D

See you again soon!

My Mind's Eye July Top Ten & My Cute Stamps

My husband has had a few days off here-and-there and we've been taking full advantage of them and spending time together as a family. This is what we've been up to . . .

Four Wheeler Ride in the Mountains

We feel so lucky to live so close to the mountains . . . the access roads are just a few streets away. Once or twice a year we will pack a picnic, hop on the four-wheelers and head for the hills. This time we went for 3.5 hours. The whole time I had that song in my head "The Bear Went Over the Mountain . . . to see what he could see." And what did we see? The other side of the mountain . . . but we also found a beautiful mountain lake where we stopped to eat our lunch. The bugs were CRAZY though, I guess they like the smell of Jimmy John's sandwiches, too. The kids were screaming and we laughed as we stuffed our food in our mouths as fast as we could so we could get on our way. :)

LAGOON!

We have a sad little amusement park here in Utah called Lagoon. :) It doesn't even compare to places like Disneyland, it's more like a glorified carnival. But, hey! We atleast have SOMETHING, right?! :D We had a great time riding the rides and watching daddy win the kids stuffed animals at the Baseball Toss. :)

I actually do have a few projects to share with you today. The first one is the page I created for the My Mind's Eye July Top 10 post .

For our family, July is all about parades, picnics, and spending time with family. We celebrate the 4th of July with the rest of the country at the beginning of the month, but also look forward to celebrating Utah's statehood (Pioneer Day) on the 24th of July. It's a month long celebration! We get together with family to watch hometown parades, watch the kids scramble for candy, attend carnivals, and watch fireworks. We look forward to it every summer!

I created the title using the Just Chillin' design card and my Slice. Such a great font! The rub on letters and transparent piece are from an earlier My Mind's Eye collection called Bohemia.

I used the NEW Alphabet Soup Boy collection with a hint of the Lost & Found collection.

I also have a couple of cards to share with you today using My Cute Stamps . This is actually the last month of my term and I want to thank Holly for having me on the team this past little while. I love her stamps and will continue to add them to my collection! :) Thanks, Holly!

Thank You Card - Sweet Chocolate set

Aren't those chocolate-dipped strawberries the cutest?! In our town we have a chocolatier called Mrs. Cavanaugh's Chocolates. They have the best chocolate (and caramel corn) EVER. Whenever I need a gift for someone, they are the place I stop first. :) I thought it would be so fun to grab a box of their chocolate strawberries and take them to someone as a special "Thank You" gift with this card attached.

Happy Owl-oween! Card - Happy Owloween Set

It's no secret that Halloween is my FAVORITE holiday. How could I not end my term with My Cute Stamps by creating a fun Halloween card? :) This set is so much fun!

That's it for today!
Have a great weekend!

A Page Re-do

Have you ever worked on a scrapbook page, and for whatever reason, it just doesn't come together how you wanted it to?

Whenever that happens to me, I usually plop them in my book and count it as an "experiment" or a "learning experience" and move on. :) BUT, sometimes those pages still haunt me every time I flip past them in my scrapbook. You know the ones . . . where you cringe just a little knowing that you didn't quite capture the feeling of the memory. The ones you KNOW deserve the chance to be redone. :)

Well, this week on the Noel Mignon Challenge Blog we are tackling those haunting pages. The Now & Then Challenge prompts us to pull out an older page and redo it using newer supplies.

Here is my resulting page. To see the page I redid and read about what inspired me in my design choices on the new page, head to the Noel Mignon Layout Blog here .

Page created with the Noel Mignon Office Party kit .

Have a great day!

Imaginisce CHA Projects

I have one last CHA Project Post to share with you . . . Imaginisce! I had so much fun creating with all of the new lines. Here's what I made!

APPLE CIDER Collection

COTTAGE CHRISTMAS Collection

DIN0-ROAR Collection

ENCHANTED Collection

My overloaded scatter-brain forgot to take pictures of these layouts before sending them off to Imaginisce. (Doy!) So the only picture I have to share of them is the one they posted of their booth on the Imaginisce blog. :)
