Noel Mignon Challenge

Today there is a brand new challenge up on the Noel Mignon Challenge Blog . The Double Trouble Challenge! The challenge is to use only ONE sheet of double-sided patterned paper. You can use anything else, but only one sheet of the patterned paper.

YIKES! Until this challenge I didn't realize how much I LOVE and depend on using patterned paper in my designs. My solution? To create my own patterned paper on plain cardstock using stamps. (Stamps by PaperTrey Ink)

The inspiration for my design actually came from the sheet of patterned paper I chose: Jillibean Soup "Old World Cabbage Stew" Brown Rice Paper from the Playdate kit. I took my color scheme straight from the paper: red, golden yellow, green, brown, and cream.

The patterned paper design reminds me of a county fair. It made me think of fruit pies lined up in a row on a calico print table cloth. :) The zig-zag circle came from the idea of the winning pie receiving a blue ribbon. :)

What sheet of patterned paper are you going to choose to work with for this challenge? Come on over and play with us! ;)

My poor sketch blog has been ignored the past month . . . but not any more! I've got another page of sketches up for download. Click the image below to save it to your computer. If you'd like to grab Pages 1-5 head on over to my sketch blog . . . they are located in the sidebar.

More sketches coming soon!

Have a great week!
