Cuttlebug Challenge #68: Vintage

This week the Cuttlebug Challenge girls were challenged to create a layout with a Vintage Vibe using Crafty Secrets. I am the newbie, so I didn't have any Crafty Secrets to play with, but I did my best to create a Vintage-y feel using the Noel Mignon Object of My Affection kit.

The Fancy Pants floral paper was my jumping off point for this page. I loved the way it looked with this picture of my husband and daughter walking on the beach. I created my own page accents using clear packaging and my Cuttlebug Textile Hearts combo die/embossing folder and Frills Borders embossing folder.

I gave the clear accents a whitewash with some acrylic paint and then used Tattered Rose Distress Stickles on top for a sandy effect. :)

The chipboard hearts are painted with white acrylic paint, a wash of Shimmerz Pink Pearlz, and more Tattered Rose Distress Stickles. I added the Stickles to the Making Memories heart accent, as well, so that everything would coordinate.

I hope you will come and play along with us at the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog! What an inspiring place to be!

This week I challenged myself to scraplift a scrappy friend of mine, Deanna Misner. She has such a great style and I couldn't wait to try this page of hers.

Page by Deanna Misner

Scraplifting is one of my favorite things to do. It gives me a chance to apply my own style to the page designs I admire and love created by others. On this page, I used the shape of Deanna's circle page to ground my photo-grouping. Next I interpreted her ribbon strips underneath her photos as paper strips across my page. I added a sticker grouping to the top of my main photo to imitate her bingo card tab. And then finally, I tried to emulate her beautiful handcut flower sprays with a sprinkle of stars on my page.

Page created with the Noel Mignon PAPER DOLL kit.

Thanks to Deanna, for always being an inspiration to me! ;)

See you tomorrow!
Jana

  16. OMG you are a natural, thanks for sharing that you actually scraplift, I do too, but no point giving credit to the wonderful designer as at an early point I deviate and create something totally different but it motivates me to create in the first place, in troubled times, this way of scrapping fulfills me and makes me sane, I wish mojo stayed on fire all month but I have so many low mojo days and thanks to the wonderful blogs I visit like yours, I fill my petrol tank so to speak and get back on to the job at hand, which is to create a history for my little boy to see his childhood when he is older, I don't remember my younger years, but I want him to see himself and his early traits, I just love scrapbooking. Love Melxxxx
