Paul Frank Ad Challenge at Noel Mignon

There is a new challenge over on the Noel Mignon Challenge Blog. This was a really fun one and I'm amazed at all the different directions the designers went with the Paul Frank Ad. Go check it out! LOVIN' their creations!

Isn't that what makes the creative process for each person so cool?!!! I know that I started out wanting to make a black/white/kraft layout and incorporate rows and rows of patterned paper hearts that are reminiscent of the girl's shirt, but then I ended up taking it a soft & feminine direction. Here's what I created! I used the brand new Noel Mignon Lovely Day kit.

Hope to see you over there playing along! ;)

Scrapperie April Kit: Winging It

Do you have a favorite seasonal candy this time of year? These things are a major downfall for me. *blush, blush* I can't even buy them because they just call my name over and over until they are gone! LOL!

I realized that I hadn't posted the pictures of the April Scrapperie kit yet. The Trimmings Kit has already sold out and there are fewer than 5 left of the rest of them. Here are pictures of the April Kits: Winging It! if you are interested at all! Love all the birdies in this one! :D

The Essentials - $30

The Extras - $20

The Piece de Resistance - $57.50

See you again soon!

A Few More Before the Weekend

I have a few more layouts to share with you before I get distracted by the weekend. Hehehe! It's supposed to get nicer weather-wise and I'm hoping to get out and enjoy it! :)

Here is the final layout for the Bella Blvd. blog this week. I love the colors in these papers!

This is a layout I completed awhile back for a Layout Tag on the Noel Mignon MB. Have you ever done a Layout Tag? It was so much fun!!! It's kind of like the game where you whisper a secret to the first person in a line and then you pass it along, only it is with layouts. The first person is sent a layout to use as inspiration to create a page. They send it back to the coordinator and then their layout gets sent to the second person to use as inspiration. At the end, we create a slideshow and see how the pages evolved as they went from person to person.

I was passed a gorgeous page by my fellow DT member and good friend of mine, Virginia Tillery. Here is her page.

Host unlimited photos at slide.com for FREE!

And this is mine.

If you're curious at all, here is a link to the slideshow of our Layout Tag. :D

Enjoy your weekend!

Bella Blvd. Guest Artista

This week I am the featured Bella Blvd. Guest Artista on the Bella Blvd. blog. I just *LOVE* their products and had so much fun playing around with them! I had to order myself even more, because I can't get enough of them!!!!

Here are a couple of layouts that have been featured on the blog.

While in Lake Powell, Kevin and my brother hiked to the top of the canyon walls. They captured this gorgeous shot of the canyon where our houseboat was docked.

INCREDIBLE!!! I wish I had the stamina to make a hike like that! LOL! And just so you can see what I mean, here are a couple of shots of the climb. YIKES! I don't know if it has something to do with becoming a mother, but ever since I had children, situations like that make me nervous!

For this second one, I was issued a challenge to create a layout with the theme "A Day in the Life of ..." With two little girls at home in the daytime, my days are filled with all things princess, tea party, dress-ups and bling! Next year when Maryn is in 1st Grade all day and Camryn starts Preschool, I know that these cute sister moments won't be as common. :( I think that's one of the reasons I take so many pictures of these two together! LOL! The Sweet Celebration line was perfect to scrap their tea party together! (LOVE those cupcakes!)

I'll be back tomorrow with one more Bella Blvd. layout.

Hope you are enjoying your week!
HUGS!!!

Five Minute Loopy Flowers TUTORIAL

These flowers are so quick and easy, you'll become addicted to making them!

STEP 1: Cut felt into desired width. This sample is about 2.5" wide.

STEP 2: Fold the strip in half length-wise and baste the two edges together using embroidery floss of strong thread.

STEP 3: On the loopy side cut into the strip like you are making fringe. These will be your flower petals. Below is a side view of the loop flower petals you have created so far.

STEP 4: Cut your thread and pull the two ends together, cinching the flower into a circle. Tie a knot with the two loose ends to close.

STEP 5: Cover the center opening with a large button or embellish with other felt layers/flowers/etc. as desired. Your cute flower is ready to use in a project! :D

Cut your strip wider for larger flowers. You can then layer these together to make a fuller looking flower, as shown below.

Another fun option is to use sharp pinking scissors to cut your "fringe" flower petals.

Here is a sample flower with two layers of zig-zagged petals.

I made the one below using crepe paper birthday streamers. Instead of stitching the two edges together, I glued them, cut the fringe, and then attached the strip of loopy fringe to a punched circle cardstock base.
Here is the back of the birthday streamer flower.
For a shabby flower, I used wide grosgrain ribbon. When you cut the fringe into the ribbon the edges fray a bit, giving you this cute look!
Here's another sample. This ribbon had wire in it which I simply removed after stitching the two edges together.

You can layer your different flowers together to create infinite possibilities!

And here is a card I made using one of my flowers. (Card design inspired by Melissa Phillips)

I hope you have fun with this technique!!!! Link us up to your creations! We'd love to see them!

No More Snow Please!

Yesterday morning we woke up to snow. UGH! It was cold all day and made me grumpy! LOL! I'm glad that today the sun has been peeking out a few times and is melting it away. I'll try and look at the bright side . . . atleast the ground will be nice and soft when I get back to weeding and that will make my job a lot easier! :D

I've been doing a lot of "catch-up" scrapping this past weekend. You know the kind of projects ... random birthday pages, school portraits, etc. I've also done some pages for my neice's book. I like doing these kind of projects because I dig into my stash a bit more than I normally would.

For these first two pages I used a couple of Scarlet Lime kits from my stash.

I made this one with the brand new Noel Mignon Lovely Day Kit (11 left). I used the current sketch by Inspired Blueprints, too. Don't forget that everytime you create a page this month using this month's sketches at Inspired Blueprints and upload them to their gallery you will be entered in for the chance to win a $40 gift card to Noel Mignon! So what are you waiting for?! ;)
I made this little quote book using the mini book that came in the Extra Credit kit at Noel Mignon (2 left). I then decorated it using leftover bits from both the Homeroom kit and Extra Credit kit. I love the size of it! Perfect to sit next to my computer or tuck in my purse.

I also did posted a Flower Tutorial at Noel Mignon over the weekend if your curious. These flowers are really easy and fun to make.

Enjoy your day!

Weeds & Dirt, Dirt & Weeds!

That's what I have been staring at the last couple of days. I just hate the look of dry, cracked, weed-filled dirt. BLECH!!! And since the weather has been really nice this week, I have been making a dent in the yardwork. A small dent, but a dent none-the-less. :D YAY!!!

BEFORE - blech! blech! blech! Makes me feel like dousing my skin in lotion! LOL!

AFTER

Ahhhhh! I love it! It's like vacuuming! Instant gratification!

Yes, I'm strange. I'm weeding dirt. We don't have any plants or trees in our new yard. That won't happen until we sell the other house. But I have faith that if I keep working on it, it will be ready when it's time to dig those holes! Yeah! :D

I have a few new layouts for you, a crop announcement, and sneak peeks of the new Noel Mignon kit that will be going up for sale on Sunday. Oh, Nelly! You don't want to miss out on this one! TRUST ME!!!! It came to my house this week and I about had a heart attack at it's loveliness!!!!

What?! You want to see the sneaks first? Well, okay! Here they are! :D :D :D Presenting Sneak peeks of the new Noel Mignon Lovely Day kit. Oh, my! These pics DO NOT do this kit justice! :D :D :D

There's a new challenge up at Mix It Up! Here is my layout using pictures of inanimate objects and a 6+ word long phrase for my title. I edited my pictures to kind of have a blown-out dreamlike quality to them. Ever since Noel gave me LightRoom for Christmas, I can't help but edit all my pictures funky ways. Sorry, if you're sick of it. :) I'm sure it is a phase that will dissipate eventually! LOL!

I also created another layout using the beautiful Scrapperie Cherries Jubilee kit. These are pictures of my niece when she was a baby. I'm just working on a few pages for her baby book! :) (Slowly, but surely, Amy, I am getting it done! ;) Thanks for your patience!)

Last, but definitely not least, you will want to mark your calendars for April 17th to 19th. BackPorch Memories is having a Spring Fling Crop and it's going to be full of fun challenges and prizes. :D :D :D Now what scrapper can resist that?!

Photobucket

That's it for today!
Have a great one!
