Slow Blogging Week

I haven't blogged much this week because it the last week of school for my kids. I guess I'm trying to get as many projects finished as I can before they are home next week!

I can't wait to play as a family this summer! Last year, all we did was run around in the car making decisions on carpet/tile/etc. and check the progress of the new house. It will be soooo nice to have nothing we have to rush to do. To be able to just take it easy, sneak away for some camping trips, and spontaneously leave for daytrips around town. I LOVE summer!

On top of that we've been working at this a little bit . . .

(Not having too much luck, though. This one is being quite stubborn! LOL!)

And watching these . . .

We looked out Owen's bedroom window one day and discovered that a mother squirrel had dug a den into the retaining rock wall next to our front walkway. It's been pretty fun watching the mother and her seven babies! Owen's window makes it feel like we have a Squirrel Aquarium.

I have to admit, though, that I'm getting a little worried about what they are doing to that rock wall . . . if they are messing up the integrity of it. ??? I need to call Wild Animal Control and see what they think I should do. Anyone out there have squirrel experience? Any advice to offer me? LOL!

I have some layouts to share with you today!

Last week was my last entry for the Mix It Up Challenge Blog and this is the layout I created using the Noel Mignon Rise and Shine kit.

And if you are interested, Mix It UP is looking for more DT members. Check it out! Mel was a dream to work with and the challenges are so inspiring and fun! :D

This next one was for the Thrifty Thursday tip at Urban Anthology. I shabbied (is that even a word! LOL!) up some cute-sy flower brads by sanding them, adding a jewel to the center and using them for the middle of my flowers. I made the jewels look "antique" by smudging some black ink over them. I really liked how they turned out and I love that I am using something that has been in my stash FOREVAH!!!

If I'm not back with more before next Monday, just know that I'm having fun celebrating that school is out with my kids! ;)

Have a great day!
Jana

  4. Hope the potty training is going well. Good luck with the squirrels. Our experience with squirrels in our yard has been pretty expensive. The pictures sure are cute, though! :)

  5. Jana, I love checking in on your blog. I hope you enjoy your summer - we are in the beginning of our winter here (New Zealand) and already dreaming of the summer sun. Those squirrels are so cute - what a great treat for the kids. I hope they don't cause too many problems. We don't have any squirrels in NZ but we are lucky enough to have lots of birds around our house that we can look out at.
