Sketch This 52

This week has been crazy fun! Things are humming away at the new house and it's the last week of school.

We are still in the trimming stages at the new house, but we are getting closer to painting and that means that the pressure has been put on me to start picking out paint colors. YIKES!!! I have a pretty good idea of what we're doing, but the kids rooms were baffling me. All of them are due for new bedding, so I've been shopping around for that. I only have one more to do and then I can pick all the paint colors to go with what I found. YAY! It feels so good to get that "checked off".

Today was "clean out your desk day" at school. Jensyn brought me home some lovely new artwork to hang in my office. She says she painted them just for me. Awwww! :) LOVE THAT!
And check out her end-of-year paper mache project! She's so funny! They were supposed to create an animal from Utah. She started out making a deer, but then it evolved into a deer/cat/dog/horse/unicorn. LOL! Her teacher says that Jensyn is only the 2nd student in all her years that she has allowed to create a mystical creature for the Utah Animal project! LOL! :D :D :D Gotta love the "artistic" gene in the family!
And these are my latest FAVORITE scrapbooking supplies! I got them just today from my sweet son, Owen. He used his good-behavior-in-class money to buy them for me from the class stash of goodies. Awwwww! Seriously! How sweet is that! Thanks, Owen! I LOVE them! ;)
Are you ready for a new sketch? Check out #52 at Sketch This for this week. Here's my take on it! Be sure to check out all the other cards and layouts made using this sketch by clicking on the link to the right --------------------------------------->.
I am always stunned at all the creativity that comes from one sketch. So fun!

WooHOOO! Out of Bed and Crop Addict June Kit

WooHOOOOO! I have been stuck in bed for three days elevating my foot and I'm finally back in my scraproom! Granted, I do have to keep my foot propped up on a chair next to me, but who cares! I'm back at my desk! :)Do I even have to tell you how excited that makes me!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

Thanks for all the well-wishes! My surgery went great. It was fast! And the surgical center I went to was great! My foot has been really sore, but it is healing quickly. It's not all the way better, but atleast I can hobble around on it now. :)

Here is what I learned the past three days: Ice is good for swollen feet, My husband, Kevin, is the best nurse EVAH!, My kids draw the cutest cards, I miss hanging out with my family, Daytime T.V. is BORING, husband's appreciate you more when they have to deal with four kids by themselves for three days, scrappy mail ALWAYS cheer me up, it takes a long time to walk on your knees to the bathroom, the Internet is FABULOUS!, it's hard to scrap in bed . . . so it's better to read and update your inspiration notebook by going through magazines. Whew! So that's what I've been up to, how about you?

******************************

Crop Addict's June Kit features the fun new line Zach's Life by Little Yellow Bicycle and Crate Paper Crush collection. Oooo! That Crush is my FAVORITE!!! I've never played with it until now and I think I need to snag me some more of that! Gorgeous stuff! Here are my projects!

Sketch 51

Quick post tonight. Well, I think a lot of my posts have been short and sweet lately. If you're like me you are dealing with all kinds of end-of-year activities. Field Trips, Class Parties, Preschool Graduation . . . etc. Tomorrow is a busy one for us, I really should be in bed. OOPS! :) I have outpatient foot surgery at 6:30 in the morning (those darn heel spurs), Field Trip for my daughter, Preschool graduation for my other daughter and then cleaning the house for a realtor to come by. Whew! I think my hubby's going to be in charge of most of that while I'm hobbling around, but I'll do my best to help. Anyway, thanks for putting up with the stubby posts. ;)

Here is my layout for Sketch This 51. I decided to do some paper piecing on my flower accent. Back in the day, I used to paper piece on almost every single layout. It was fun to visit that technique again! :)

Thanks so much for coming by! And if I don't "see" you again before the weekend, Have a great Memorial Day!

Mom's Day . . . And the winner is . . .

These are the four cuties that call me "Mom". And today they showered me with hugs & kisses, homemade cards, pictures, coupon books, poems, and gifts. They served me breakfast in bed, snacks and drinks at my whim, let me NAP undisturbed, and tried their very best to get along with each other the entire day. :) I am the luckiest mom in the world! These are the people that teach me. They teach me what kind of person I want to become. They teach me that life is fun, and worthwhile, and meaningful. They teach me patience and perseverence. (LOL!) These people have BIG spirits and I am so grateful that they are in my life. Thanks for making me a mom! I love you Jensyn, Owen, Maryn and Camryn!!!

I hope you all had a wonderful day and were as spoiled as I was! :)

May BackPorch Memories Solo Kit

If you haven't read that post yet, you're going to want to and leave a comment, because on Sunday night I'll be drawing a name to give away some goodies! Woohooo! Gotta love a little blog candy! It's just my way to celebrate and thank all of you for over 10,000 views to my blog! Seriously! That's just CRAZY! I never imagined I'd EVER have that many visits! So, THANK YOU!!!!

*************************

Today's the 10th and that means that today is the day I get to post my BackPorch Memories projects! Have you seen the Solo kit this month! *Jaw dropping here* I LOVED playing with the Magpie collection . . . and goodness! . . . that butterfly stamp in the May stamp set is a MUST-HAVE! Okay, . . . onto my projects! ;)

I decided to use the Bazzill brads in the kit as oversized polka-dots on my page! :) You just gotta smile at big, dimensional, red polka-dots! They make me happy! :)

This layout ended up show-casing all the yummy supplies in the May Solo Embellishment Pack. LOVE those vinyl rubons and the Making Memories journal blocks are a classic in my book! (Note: The polka dot Scenic Route paper was dug out of my dusty stash! LOL!)
Have you noticed yet that I have a thing with buttons lately! LOL! I can't get enough of them! This layout was inspired by a Becky Fleck sketch that will be featured in the May Newsletter! I LOVE sketches! I can't wait to see how the other designers interpreted the same sketch! So fun!

I wish this photo did the colors of this card justice. It is very muted looking in real life, but in a very funky sort-of way. It's hard to tell, but I layered two of each butterfly together and then bent up the wings of the top one for a flutter-y effect.
This last card, was one I almost threw away, but it ended up being my favorite! Isn't it weird how that can happen sometimes, if you just keep at it? The twig for the birds is actually the tree stamp from the May Stamp Set. I turned it on its side and trimmed a few branches to make it look more like a twig for my birdies.
Thanks for coming by! See you on Sunday! :) Oh! And have a HAPPY MOTHER"S DAY! I hope you get lots of scrappy toys and time to play with them! HUGS!

Sketch This 49

My layout for Sketch This 49 features my daughter sneaking a turn on her brother's Nintendo DS. Do your kids have these? Wow! They are so fun! I'm afraid of picking one of them up to dabble on myself, because I'm worried I'll never want to give it back! I used to LOVE playing video games like this. We'd get one every Christmas and I'd spend the entire Christmas break trying to win the thing! LOL!

Weekend!

Happy Belated National Scrapbooking Day! So did you get any scrapping in? Did you splurge on some new goodies? I actually worked in my yard all day, but I did manage to sneak in a shopping trip! LOL!

I treated myself to some Martha Stewart punches, some more Making Memories jars for my scrapping supplies, and this . . . my splurge item! I walked through the Watercolor section to run my girls to the restroom and this palette of German watercolors called my name! :) I just had to get them!

We've had a gorgeous weekend here! Infact it was nice enough that I thought I'd snap some shots of the new house. YEP! We have brick!!! WOOHOO! The bricklayers are doing a fantastic job! We lamented over which brick to choose, so it's a relief to see it go up and still LOVE it! :)
Here's a shot of the side of the house . . . you can see the texture of it a little better in this photo. Love it, love it, love it!
Now that it's been warm for a week or so, the mud has dried up and I was able to venture out back to take some shots of the backyard to show you. This is a shot of the left side walking towards the back. Our backyard goes uphill and so we had rockwork put in to make two different levels going up in hopes of utilizing that hill a little better. Maryn is standing on the first level in this picture. There is another level above that. We'll put a trampoline on one and probably a swingset/sandbox/garden on the other.

Here's looking across the back of the house towards the forest/creek.

Camryn is in that stage where she will NEVER look at the camera because she is just too busy exploring everything. I was lucky to catch this shot. :)
Here's Maryn doing a typical pose. :) I think she's my most photographed kid these days! Mainly, because she's so willing to stop for me! LOL! I guess I've worn out my welcome with everyone else!
In other news, . . . Owen is very proud to announce that he has FINALLY lost his first tooth!
Can you tell he's quite happy about it! LOL! (He hates this picture and he's going to be mad at me that I put it on here.)
Here he is doing a "happy dance" in the hall holding our tooth fairy bunny pillow! LOL!
And here's a random picture of Jensyn (with blue sucker lips) . . . just because! :)
Finally, a little scrappy picture for you. My latest layout using Noel Mignon's Tree House kit (only 4 left -- Noel is having free shipping this weekend, go pick it up along with some more National Scrapbooking Day treats for yourself!). Thanks for stopping by!
See ya!
