Winner and a Flower Technique

Hey Everyone!

Sorry, I haven't been around as much as I usually am . . . I've been working hard on some projects for CHA. (Pssst. The new Bella Blvd. collections are ADORABLE!!! You'll want to keep your eye out for them! ;) ) I wish I could show you my projects, but alas! I have to keep them "secret" until the end of this month! ;)

Okay, I have one more thing for you! A new technique!!! Glittered Flowers!!!

I learned this from Morag Cutts . . . and it's the perfect way to add some texture and a sugary coating to all those gorgeous flowers that come in the Urban Anthology kits!

Here is what you do:

Choose your flowers. I wanted to go with an elegant feel, so I am going to do white on white.

Gather your paints. I tried this with Texture Magic (found by the Stencilling supplies at the craft store) as well as 3D Paint.
(Morag used a "Snow Writer", but I couldn't find one at my local craft store.)

"Goop" your flower up with your paint. I just did the centers, but it would also look pretty to do just the edges.

While the paint is still wet, sprinkle with your glitter. (I also did some brads.)

Allow to dry thoroughly. (The texture magic dries faster than the 3d paint . . . so you may need to allow the 3d paint to sit overnight)
Add to your project! Beautiful!!!

Thanks for coming by today!
I should be back to my regularly scheduled blogging sometime soon.

Thanks for understanding!
Hugs!

Happy Tuesday!

How are ya?! I hope you all had a nice Father's Day weekend! :) We managed to sneak away for a few days to my Inlaws' beautiful cabin. It was rainy, but the kids still had a great time going on four-wheeler rides and playing with their cousins.

The "memorable moment" of this trip was getting our car stuck in the muddy road at 10 p.m. the night we arrived. We didn't mean to arrive so late, but we kept getting stuck in construction and accidents on the way up.

When we arrived at the road that goes to the cabin this is what we found.

Being a guy, Kevin thought for sure we could plow through if we stayed on the right side. Well, our trailer carrying the four-wheelers pulled us to the left and we sunk into the gushy mud. On one side of the car we couldn't even open the door (the mud went up to the silver line on the car door). The kids were freaking out, but then we decided to turn it into an adventure! :)

See the water-filled tracks? That's right where we were stuck. This picture is deceiving. When we were unloading the car and stepping in those tracks the water went to mid-thigh. YIKES! :)

We unloaded the four-wheelers, pulled the kids through the window and proceeded to take several rides back and forth to the cabin, carrying kids/luggage/groceries with no coats on in the rain and dark. It will definitely be something we'll never forget. And no worries . . . we did get the car out the next morning with the help of a friendly neighbor who has a BIG truck and several tow ropes. :)

I have a couple of new pages to share with you using Noel Mignon kits. The first page I have for you, is one using the brand new Five Foot Two kit (only 5 left!). I love the feel and colors of this kit! Perfect for all kinds of summer activities! You have red and blue for patriotic pages and juicy pinks and greens for those picnic photos! Very fun!

This page is about my kids coming home after school and raiding the kitchen. They are so hungry that they start to pull out as much food as they can and pretty soon the kitchen looks like it has a buffet set up in it! LOL!

Everything but the buttons are from the Five Foot Two kit. :)

*******************************************

Do you like to edit your photos before you print them? I am NOT a great photographer, but I feel like I can fake it a bit with the help of a photo-editing program.

I really couldn't live without my PhotoShop and LightRoom programs. They help me make my photos brighter, sharper, and more fun to scrap! :D Let me show you what I mean.

The photo in the layout below was actually a casual snapshot that I took of my daughter while we were playing outside. With the help of LightRoom I tilted it, cropped it, and added a fun preset action to give the photo more of a staged feeling. I included the before and after of this photo, so you can see the difference.

Isn't that AMAZING!!!! Now I'm no photoshop expert, so don't feel like you have to be. BELIEVE ME, if I could figure out how to do it, so can you! ;)

Everything on this page is from the delicious Rise and Shine kit (Sold Out).

Thanks for stopping by!

Friday Scrapperie Sketch

Here's another Friday Sketch that I created for the June Inspiration Month at Scrapperie. This one uses four smaller photos and lots of white space. :) I hope you like it!

***********************************

And this doesn't go with the sketch above, but I thought I'd post it anyway. It's a page I did for my niece's baby book, just thought I'd post it here so she can see it. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Urban Anthology Birthday Ad Challenge

We've been celebrating Urban Anthology's birthday all month over at the Message Board. Complete with lots of inspiration and challenges. :) My Birthday Challenge is to use this ad as inspiration for a layout.

And here is my sample page using the May Kit (brads are from my stash). I kept the two pictures, but interpreted the type underneath as paper strips to anchor the photo-grouping. I did a similar title treatment as the ad, by stamping a frame at the beginning of my title phrase. I also staggered the words in my title, like the ad.

In the lower right corner, I placed a journal tag where the bottle of Robitussin is. And then I added more paper strips to anchor it there (type).

I LOVE using ads as inspiration for pages. I hope you'll come on over and link us up with your creations using this ad!

Have a great weekend!

June Urban Anthology -- Puttin' On the Ritz

The June Urban Anthology kit, Puttin' On the Ritz is just about ready to be shipped. If you've had your eye on this one, there are still a few left (only 3!!!) in the shop. YAY!

I LOVED working with this kit!! At first, I was worried about working with the purples, greys and golds, but it surprised me . . . I LOVED this color combination!! The purples are deep and are used more as an accent color in the kit. I love the elegant, classy feel of these products together! Here are some close-ups of all the goodies included so you can see what I mean!

And here are the pages that I have created with this kit so far.

You want to know what I loved most about this kit?! Look in the centers of some of the flowers. See the pale gold centers? Those are sequin clusters!!! SWOON!!! I seriously NEED a jar of these to keep on my desk to use at every whim! I couldn't get enough of them! (Kari, are you listening? Order more! I LOVE those things! LOL!)OOooooo! And those hand-beaded straight pins . . . LOVED those, too! See what I mean? Yummy kit!!! :)

Memorial Day

Jensyn at Easter -- Too grown up! Gotta love those preteen sassy poses! LOL!

Owen at Easter - Such a dapper dude! :) He picked out that bow tie and I LOVE it! :)

Alright, that's it for today!
I'll "see" you again soon!
