October Work In Progress Layouts

First off, I just want to thank all of you for the sweet comments you've been posting to me. I can't believe all the warm fuzzies you are passing my way on the post below. Awwww shucks!!!! You gals are the best! ;) Just another reason I love the online scrapping community so much! Everyone is so sweet and genuine to each other. It's wonderful to know there are still nice people in this crazy world. :D

Second, I was a little surprised to find out how many of you like seeing pictures of the new house. :D I've been trying to keep this blog mostly about scrapping stuff and not BORE you with all the house things we are working on right now. But now that I know that there is so much interest I will definitely post some more pics of the house. Probably tomorrow, sound good? :D

And while I'm talking about the post below, just a reminder that TODAY is the last day to enter for my little giveaway. :D Leave a comment on the Giveaway Post if you haven't already. :D I'll be back tomorrow to post the winner. YAY!

I have to brag on Maryn a little bit. For awhile now she has been asking us to take the training wheels off of her bike so that she can learn to ride a "two-wheeler." I hesitated a little because we just don't have the extra time right now to run around the neighborhood with our hand on her bikeseat. I apologized to her and told her when we move it would be the first thing we would work on together. She said to me, "Mom, I know how to do it already." No. She hasn't practiced on anyone else's bike. She just has this Kindergarten, Know-It-All attitude that she can do anything the first time. LOL!

Sooooo, on Sunday, we decided to let her have a go at it and Kevin took off the training wheels for her. She was grumpy the first 30 minutes realizing that it wasn't as easy as it looked. She kept getting mad at all of us that we were talking too much and that she couldn't concentrate, yet, she didn't want us to help. We giggled a little to ourselves and left her alone.

Well, wouldn't you know it! Ten minutes later that girl was riding her bike around!!! No help learning, just pure Maryn-determination! :D :D :D I gotta give her some credit for that! Hee hee!

More Ghost Story and Sketch This #68

Eeeek! Pad and tack strip are being laid down at the new house today. Almost, almost, almost there! YAY!

Here are a few more projects using the Noel Mignon Ghost Story Kit. A layout using Sketch This #68 and a quick and easy card. I think there are only 6 kits left, so hurry and snatch yours up! ;)

I like to scrap a page of my kids' Halloween costumes twice each year, one for our Family Album and one to go into each of their School Albums. This past summer I was going through the previous school year and realized that I had completely forgot to scrap their costume pics! This kit is so packed that I will be able to do all four of them, plus some! WooHOOOO! Love that!

Good Monday Morning!

I've been packing, and packing, and packing . . . and I'm not even halfway there yet. :( Oh, well! LOL!

All last week the house was buzzing with activity! Paint touch-up, electricians, plumbers, brick-layers, landscapers, etc. YAY! It feels good seeing so much activity happening over there . . . like there is actually a light at the end of this building-a-house-tunnel. :D

The electricians were setting lights on the side of the house and were startled when they came across a tarantula. Yep. Great, huh. :( I hope there aren't any more of those bad-boys sneaking around! I hope that once we get the grass in, the creepy-crawlies will move next door to the reservoir.

Also, last week, we had a fire over at our property. !!!!!!!!! YIKES! is right! Our painters left a box of turpentine-soaked rags NEXT to the dumpster. They *forgot* to soak them in water and they caught on fire at around 10:00 p.m. one night. THANK HEAVENS for a watchful neighbor that called the fire department! The dumpster is pretty far from the house, but it did catch the surrounding field on fire -- about 4' X 30'.

When my husband talked to the painters the next day, all they said was, "Yeah. Those rags can do that." You can bet their boss received an earful from my hubs after that comment. :( He told them from now on they'll have to haul all of their own garbage off the property. The workers said, "But, that might catch my car on fire!" Ya think?! DUH!!!!! Better your run-down van than my brand new house! Grrrrrr!!!!!

Here are a few pictures for you that I took last week. They are kind of random, but oh well! Posts need pictures, right?! :D

Driveway

Sidewalk with Reworked Rock Wall & Steps

Kitchen Backsplash

Downstairs Bathroom Vanity

Maryn & Camryn giving each other a kiss through their "Hole in the Wall"

We put a little "mailbox" hole in between Maryn and Camryn's rooms. It still needs a cabinet door put on, but they are having fun playing already! :D

Have a great week!

Supplies: Noel Mignon Homeroom Kit, Janelle Richmond Sketch This #67, Foam Letter Stickers from Target Dollar Spot.

A couple of weekends ago my daughter had an impromptu sleepover with her cousin. For an activity that night we decided to have a little photo shoot of the two of them together. Later on, I printed off a bunch of pictures for them and let them go to town creating their own pages of their friendship together. They had a BLAST!!!

I LOVE the way these pictures turned out!!! They are a great reminder to me that I need to do "photo shoots" of my loved ones more often. Pictures from events are fun, but something unique happens when you take several shots of a person in a row. The viewer gains a glimpse of that person's personality as they view the subject up close and personal.

For this layout I combined nine of the photos together on one computer generated mat. I did this in Photoshop Elements 5 under the "Create>Photo Layout" option. I have never done this before and basically just followed the prompts as they came up on the screen. I'm pretty certain anyone can figure it out if I did! LOL!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Ready to Pack!

I've started to collect boxes, I bought a bunch of Sharpies and packing tape, and I am ready to begin packing! EEEeeeeekkkKKKK! I never thought this day would come!

Carpet is scheduled to be installed in our new house on the 23rd . . . and we are planning on moving in the last week of September/first week of October! I can't believe it is finally really here!
There is so much going on at the new house . . . final decisions being made on so many things. So if my posts are sparse and sporadic over the next 3-4 weeks, you now know why. ;)

This is the first place I will pop in and let everyone know what I am doing, so I'll try and keep you updated as we go along. You can bet that my computer and scrap room will be the last thing I pack and the FIRST thing I unpack! ;)

I do have a few So Sketchy! projects to post. So here they are! :D A card and a two-page layout.

Home from Lake Powell!

HEY! I missed you! :D :D :D

I'm still getting caught up on everything here at home, but I thought I would take a few minutes and post some pics from our trip. I took all of my pictures the first few days and then got real lazy about it . . . typical relaxing-on-vacation syndrome. :D Fortunately, my paparazzi-of-a-dad also took some pictures so I'll swap with him soon and you'll see even more of our trip through future layouts. ;) (Thank heavens for him, or I'd never be in any pictures, . . . well, actually, I'm not so sure if I'm going to let you all see me in my white-leg glory when I do get his pictures! LOL!)

So here ya go! Enjoy and I'll be back soon!

The kids hanging out on the dock watching carp while waiting for the houseboat to be ready to launch.

Our gorgeous campsite in Navajo Canyon - We had the entire peninsula pretty much to ourselves for most of the week. It was wonderful!

Lots of swimming this last week!
The boys had sort of an obsession with building HUGE fires everynight. Here is my brother and Owen showing off their wood-hauling muscles. :D

Owen's other "pasttime" was trying to catch fish with a net. We thought to ourselves, "Oh, good! This will keep him busy ALL week!" Well, . . . he caught one the very first day! That boy has persistence!
And here is his little fish! Yeah, Owen! :D :D :D
Rainbow over Navajo Canyon -- Seriously! How beautiful is THAT! :D
